KATKIM has taken a considered approach to making jewelry since the studio was founded in 2013. Our pieces are designed and made in Los Angeles, allowing us to remain closely involved throughout the process while supporting the skilled jewelers, makers and independent businesses within our local community.

We work with 18K gold and platinum, using recycled gold whenever possible. Our diamonds are conflict-free and sourced in accordance with the Kimberley Process and we work closely with trusted partners when selecting diamonds and gemstones for each design.

As a member of Ethical Metalsmiths, we believe responsibility is an ongoing practice. We remain committed to transparency in the materials we choose, the relationships we build and the way our pieces are made, while continuing to look for ways to reduce our impact.

 

Kat Kim is a Los Angeles based designer. She presents a fine jewelry collection comprised of clean lines with unexpected silhouettes. The purity and sparkle of gold are the essence of the canvas upon which she works. Linear or curved, rounded or sharp, the foundation of her work is the eternal radiance of the world's most romantic metal. Sustainability and global responsibility are also her founding pillars. Katherine also spends her time with private client's to create special one of a kind bespoke pieces.   

She was trained at Central Saint Martin College of Design in London and Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She was nominated by FGI (Fashion Group International) for the Rising Star Award and was a finalist in the Accessories Category in 2012. Her designs are regularly featured in leading publications such as Vogue Paris, Elle, W, Harpers Bazaar and Coveteur and has been worn on celebrities including Charlize Theron, Rihanna, Gemma Chan, Lady Gaga, Lupita Nyong'o, Dua Lipa, Angelina Jolie, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner to name a few.

I’m interested in creating something with a clear identity, but with room to take on a life beyond the design itself."
